We get a lot of queries about getting connected to the world. Quite often there is confusion between getting connected to the internet and getting connected to the network. Let us explain the difference. A network is a private setup within an organisation of known participants which allows these participants to talk to each other. A network would typically be setup within a company to allow only the employees to share information, use printers and connect to the outside world. Participants that are not known or approved are denied access to the network. The internet is a combination of many millions of computer systems which allow unknown participants to communicate with each other. Participants either seek or provide information over internet.  |
