Intel have two groups of high performance processors available. Dual Core and Quad Core. Dual Core processors, as the name implies, have two cores (brains) on a single processor. This has the advantage that you have more processing power and are able to run multiple applications simultaneously. Quad Core processors, logically have four cores (brains) on the same chip. This does not, however, automatically give double the performance.
